In 1873, Joseph Jagger, an engineer from Great Britain, recorded the results of six roulette wheels at Monte Carlo. He eventually discovered a serious bias in one of the wheels that caused certain numbers to come up more frequently. Jagger used his knowledge to win millions of Francs. Jagger lost some money back when the casino rearranged the wheels, but Jagger found his wheel anyway. Ultimately the casino was able to stop Jagger, but not before he earned the title of "The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo."

ReplyDeleteIt's not possible to "beat" the casino.
ReplyDeleteIt is possible to beat the casino. However, the chances are very slim and the only way to constantly beat them is to find a glitch or to catch the mistakes made by the dealers.
ReplyDeleteits all about luck
ReplyDeleteDumb Luck? Cause I guess a million and one people have tried to 'beat' the casino and failed. But still i guess back then it wasnt so fool-proof and it wasnt rare for a glitch to happen which just took some lucky gambler to notice?
ReplyDeleteU can beat the casino provided you have done your research and have years of experience, using tricks that are not easily detected are also another alternative. there was once a man that tricked the casino and the casino hired him as a consultant. u can depend on luck, but ultimately the casino would be the winner.
ReplyDeleteActually it is possible to beat the casino. As long as he has a small probability to win a game, he already has a very small chance of beating the casino. Also, there is only 2 possible events for each game, win or lose. As long as the probability to lose is not 1, he has the chance to beat the casino. And if this theory (that the probability to win is not 0) stays intact for all games, yes it is possible to win beat the bank. Thats why people like to say it is all based on luck.
